A GREAT FIRST DAY
Ready, set,
let's begin.
Confirm their program and location, prepare their kit, and help them feel at home on the mat.
Confirm the school pickup.
Ask the academy to confirm coverage for your child's actual school, chosen weekdays and plan. Being nearby does not guarantee a route or a place.
College offers parent pickup at 5, 5:30 or 6 PM. Oakwood's published parent pickup time is 5 PM. Your selected plan confirms the time.
Check with your academy ↗Bring their own snack.
Afterschool includes time for children to eat the snack they bring. FAC does not supply food.
Prepare a clean uniform or clean training clothes. Ask the instructor what equipment their particular class requires.
Keep the team informed.
Families review and sign the parent expectations in the family portal. These cover pickup protocol, early pickup, absences, medical notes, behaviour and communication.
Use your family account for child, emergency and authorized-pickup information. For an immediate pickup change, contact your academy.
Open your family account ↗Arrive ready to learn.
Be on time. If you arrive late, wait for the instructor to invite your child onto the mat. Welcome teammates, listen to the teacher and ask before leaving the mat.
New to a class? Ask the team to confirm the right group before your first visit.
Little habits. A welcoming mat.
These expectations follow FAC's published academy rules.
- Keep belongings in lockers and off the training floor.
- Take shoes off before entering the mat; bow when entering and leaving.
- Wear clean training clothes. Keep jeans, zippers and buttons off the mat.
- Keep food, gum and phones off the mat.
- Keep fingernails and toenails short and clean.
- Use respectful words, welcome new teammates and follow the instructor.
- Use only the force needed; never intentionally hurt a training partner.
- Shake or touch hands before and after practice. Have fun.
